Coral Reefs, known for the beauty and astounding colors are slowly dying off in the midst of our oceans. Pollution, over fishing and global warming are the main reasons due to the deterioration of coral reefs. In the past couple decades one fourth of the worlds corals have been destroyed due to human activity. At the rate the deterioration is happening and if no one stops in to help 57% will have been lost within our lifetime. Destruction not only affects the reefs themselves but surrounding communites of people. the reefs give off protein and act as community dwellers for fish that we depend on as well. "Coastal communities depend on their reefs to attract tourists, develop the capacity for commercial fishing, and protect shorelines from erosion and storm damage". (Corals Under siege) Global warming, over fishing, and pollution all impact the reefs in there own destructible ways. DIffernt parks have been created to help safe and protect the corals however this includes a strenuous amount of government funding to do so.
Even though the amount of government funding needed to protect the corals is a substantial amount its also a vital necessity. Corals are an important marine life form needed by all, even though the idea doesn't cross our minds. In the end they are really only needed to keep capitalism spinning, but unfortunately that is an important aspect in all our lives. In a less harsh factual statement, it would be sad to keep damaging something so beautiful.

Coral reefs are so beautiful and full of life. I'm not surprised though that human have polluted the water so much that the reefs are starting to die off.
