Summary:
On Tuesday, Australian doctors successfully separated twin Bangladeshi girls (Trishna and Krishna) who were joined at the heads. It took a team of 16 physicians working for about 25 hours to accomplish this astonishing procedure. It took 5 hours after the separation surgery for plastic surgeons to reconstruct their tiny skulls from artificial materials, bone and skin grafts. Although it was a successful procedure, the two year old twins are far from in the clear. The extent of possible brain damage due to the surgery can’t fully be measured and doctors say that they have a 50% chance of full normal brain function. For right now, they remain in a coma to be monitored for further evaluation.

Stories like this always amaze me. Thing like this show me that there is no limit to human intelligence. Separating such a vital organ such as the brain, arteries and blood vessels seems impossible to me. The disheartening this about this story was that these children (because of their condition) were left in an orphanage. Although they might have had a horrible life being in the system, it ended up being the thing that changed their life. They were discovered by by a representative from the Children First Foundation, who brought to them to Australia. Hopefully they will be able to stay within Australia to be adopted by a loving family. That’s all someone can hope for when children fall within the system.

Yes, this is an amazing story but it also a sad one because no one knows what the real outcome will be.
This is an amazing story. I really hope that the two of them are able to have full functioning normal brains, and that they are able to be adopted by a great family.

It is amazing the power of an individual(s), you are right. I can not believe that people actually treat children in this manner. Because of there condition they were left in an orphanage. It is unfortunate but remarkable the type of talent that exists in this world, especially the medical field. Although most doctors are very well compensated for their hard work and life saving abilities I still do not think that money is enough to show how hard they work.
