The man accused of fueling the FDLR (Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda) has been arrested in Germany. His name is Ignace Murwanashyaka. The FDLR has been behind countless rapes, and killings of innocent villagers in the Congo. They are also accused of recruiting child soldiers and looting. The unrest in the Congo is mainly because of the hatred between the Hutu’s (which make up the FDLR ) and the Tutsi’s (which mainly makeup the Rwandan government). The FDLR are fighting for the liberation of Rwanda from Tutsi rule. They are carrying out a genocide on the Tutsi minority in the Congo. Ignace has strongly denied that the FDLR are behind the genocide, or any of the crimes he is accused of. He has been in Germany since 1994, and since being arrested Rwanda is requesting that he be extradited home to be tried in Rwanda. Former UN chief investigator in Rwanda Gary Haugen says he hopes that this means Europe cannot be a safe haven for those behind these monstrous acts of war.
The arrest of Ignace Murwanashyaka gives me hope that some justice is coming to the Congo, but so much more has to be done. Hundreds of women are being brutally raped and mutilated and innocent people are dying horrible deaths due to the FDLR. It is a war-torn country with a weak infrastructure, unable to put an end to the attacks. I hope that Ignace is brought to justice and it sends a message to the FDLR that their reign of terror needs to end.

Hopefully he will get exactly what he deserves, though the means of prosecution need to be done legally. I believe Rwanda has a right to give him a trial and that European countries do not have the right to take that trial away from them.
