Human Trafficking

These articles are about the Somali and American gangs who were recently busted for the trafficking of girls. The Sex Trafficking operation of 29 Somali men and women based in Minneapolis, were unsealed Monday in Nashville. The investigation began in September when phone records of a 15-year-old prostitute were being watched. This particular operation is more of a "ring", tied between Minneapolis, Nashville, and Columbus. It has been operating since 2000. Their intention is to get girls between 14 and 18 for prostitution. Victims were taken for the selling of sex, where they were also forced to have sex with gang members. "Trafficking children for sex is intolerable and the Department of Justice will aggressively enforce trafficking and other laws to eliminate these types of deplorable acts," said U.S. Attorney Jerry Martin. "As shown here today, law enforcement agencies at every level will come together to bring the full force of justice to bear o individuals who choose to profit by victimizing innocent children." The sex trafficking offenses carry a penalty of 15 years to life in prison. To analyze and critique these articles, I would say that they are both well-informed. It gets the message of how the investigation began and that the charged members were caught. However, even though it says the investigation began in September by phone records, I would like to know what the next step of the investigation was. I am aware that here are sick idiots out ther that are selling innocent girls, but seeing that those that were charged in this particular gang were all foreigners suprised me. 29 people are a lot to be arrested, but there are still hundreds more getting away with it. I am glad that they were caught and will seek justice, however, if it was up to me, the "justice" that they will recieve is no where near as bad as the justice I wish they would recieve that I probably shouldn't mention on this blog. This is definitely a huge social problem as human trafficking rates are growing. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do to catch the act. The government can continue to be cautious and those sick-minded dogs that are contributing to these operations by paying for sex from these girls could be caught as well.

I think you are right about this topic, it is sick that people are able to do this to young girls. Many of them probably came here looking for a better life, at least thats probably what they were promised. I think theat their punishment should be more than 15 years because no one should be forced against their will especially as a sex slave of poor young girls.
