Blog #2 Authorities detain 3 in investigation of bombing outside Delhi court

Police said that three men were detained in Kashmir on Thursday after an explosion outside of the Delhi High Court the following day. An Islamic extremist group claimed responsibility for it through email. The name of the group that sent the email to multiple new channels is Harkatt-ul-Jihad-al-Islami. The police confirmed that the email was sent from the Kistwar area. The bomb was placed inside a briefcase and went off outside of the court, eleven people were killed and seventy-four were injured in the explosion. There was another explosion four months prior to this one in the same court complex. Wednesday’s are typically the day that many members of the public come to bring cases before the judges, so it was a pretty busy day. The briefcase was placed in front the gate that is used by litigants and lawyers. The police, the National Security Guard and the NIA, which was set up after the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008, are all investigating the case.

A huge number of people were injured or killed in this explosion. The fact that this was not the first time that this has happened at the court house is very suspicious. It seems as if it the bomb was targeted towards the lawyers because of where it was located. There should be more security and surveillance around places of justice such as courts. Hopefully the three people that were detained will receive the justice that they deserve for the murders of all those innocent people.
