Blog Post #2: Iran executes three men on homosexuality charges

According to the article, three Iranian men were killed after being found guilty of charges related to their homosexuality. The men were identified only by their intials and were hanged on Sunday after receiving the death penalty. This ruling as has caused much controversy in Iraq over freedom and the principle of human rights came into play.

According to statements taken from judiciary official in Khuzestan, the men were excuted solely based on the articles 108 and 110 of Iran's Islamic penal code, for acts against the sharia law and bad deeds.  The Iran Human Rights however disagree and accused the courts with convicting the suspects not for the robberies that they were accused of committing, but were instead charged with "lavat" which is the sexual intercourse between two men.  Iran Human Rights are totally against this and feel that this is a conspiracy and justice was not served what so ever. The courts and judiciary officers don't have much to say about this case. It is not clear whether the three men were homosexuals or merely accused of being gay. Usually men that were convicted of homosexuality it was the grounds of male rape, but in this circumstance that just wasn't the case. The Iran Human Rights want to help set new rules and boundaries to help improve the laws and better enforce or better yet reinforce human rights for the Iranan citizens. Which is clearly needed in Iraq.
