Conflict in Congo and surrounding areas continued to flourish this week. Apparently, in Kilimanyoka, Congo this past Wednesday, rebels decided to make a road block out of two government soldiers. This scene was a warning to troops to stay clear of this area, of which they had been fighting close to the night before. This incident and others have established to civilians, and the government that the current conflict is far from ending. This conflict arose from Congo rebels, a large number being Hutu extremists, who migrated from Rwanda after the long-lasting genocide. Congolese troops are seeking help from neighboring cities such as Angola, to try and stop the violence that has spread. The U.N. is urging both the government and rebels to cease conflict before more civilians are hurt in the process. Many victims are now migrating to a city south of Congo, called Kibati, where the U.N. is providing shelter for close to 75,000 refugees.
This conflict in turning into a never ending spiral of violence. Both the government and the rebels are in the wrong for this violence. In trying to stop the conflict, the government is actually helping fuel the fire. Nothing will be solved by violence, and this is what I think the rebels and the government fail to understand. All of these innocent people are being killed due to the ignorance of two groups of people; one of which is supposed to be protecting these victims. It makes no sense to me that the government cannot find a better way of dealing with this issue. The U.N. can only continue to help so many refugees before they will no longer be able to. If there is not a stop to this violence, I believe another mass genocide is destined to occur.

I honestly don't understand how people are able to do this to other human beings. We're all humans; just because someone is a certain race is no reason to kill them. This topic is a sensitive one.
Wow. This is an interesting article. I'm in agreement with Angela. It's very unfortunate that human beings can do such horrible things to others. I admire the UN so much, their dedication to helping refugees and just their aid in general is huge.
