9/11 Suspects to be tried in NYC civilian court
This article is mainly about Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees that are facing trail in a civilian federal court. Khalid is the self-proclaimed mastermind of the attacks on September 11th. Facing trial on U.S. soil is a step in Obama’s plan to end the terror suspect detention center in Cuba that was intended to close at the end of January. Some find this case a “seismic shift” in how the war on al-Qaida is being approached. The public is also concerned about how safe this trial will be. We are talking about the possible masterminds of 9/11.
Maybe it is because I don’t really watch the news that much but I am surprised I did not hear about this more. It seems like a really big deal. We have been fighting this “war on terror” for years now and here we might have found some of the men behind the whole thing. It is scary to think about the trial. If these really are the men how are responsible for the 9/11 attacks, who is to say they do not have something up their selves for court. If something were to happen during the trial, what would that mean for our country? More war?

I think that it's interesting, and a bit scary, that you posed the question of what would happen if they pull something in court? I would have never thought of that being a possibility, but that you mentioned it, it's kind of scary. I would HOPE that the security of our judicial system would be able to prevent something like that, however, after 911, you never know.
