There has been a study suggested that when men drink alcohol every day, it can cut their risk of heart disease by over a third. The Spanish research study found large quantities of alcohol could be even more beneficial. However, heavy drinking does increase the risk of many other diseases. The ages of the participants in the study were 29-69 and it asked these people about their drinking habits and followed them for ten years. The same benefits of reduced risk of heart disease that was found in men who drink, was however, not found to be nearly as beneficial for women who drink.
I found this article extremely shocking. I have never heard that heavy drinking could have any positive repercussions. I have always heard that a glass of wine a day was perhaps good for your heart, but I never thought the same could be true for other types of alcohol in much greater quantities. This research seems to have a pretty dangerous conclusion. While alcohol possibly prevents heart disease, heavy drinking is responsible for around 1.8 million deaths globally per year from other diseases as well as drunken driving related deaths. These deaths are extremely important to remember when considering picking up a bottle of Jack to improve your odds of having a healthy heart.

I agree, SHOCKING. They should not be promoting 'heavy' drinking of alcohol, not at all. One drink a day is good for you, I'll agree to that!
I also agree, this is shocking. It is kind of like they're promoting drinking. And I'm sure some idiot will use this as his defense, in the case that something goes wrong while he's drunk. I can imagine an increase in drinking in the years to come...maybe.
I definitely agree with you about the many negative things that have been instilled in us from children about the effects of alcohol consumption. I too, found this article to be somewhat shocking. However, I am more concerned with the shallow minded people who may come across this and immediately start turning the bottles up.
I'm not sure even with medical benefit I would participate in heavy drinking. I heard a glass of wine a day is fine, but not sure about taking back the whole bottle or 2. I think this is more of a setup for people to buy more alcohol.
