Depression

In recent news, a man named Rober Enke killed himself because he was suffering from depression. He started treatment in 2003 when he lost his starting place in Barcelona and the constant reminder of his daughters death. Someone suffering from depression usually is feeling emotionally down and loose interest in things that used tho make them happy. Usually transcends to hopelessness and being overwhelmed with responsibilities and loosing their mind. Depressed people feel very guilty and usually don't get a lot of sleep. Depression is a combination between genes and the environment. Some are more prone to depression then others. Psychological stress and medical problems are the two main causes of depression. Its also considered a physical illness. To treat depression, there are many options. There are pharmaceutical drugs someone can take (usually antidepressants such as lithium and anti-psychotics). There are psycho-therapeutic techniques and behavioral therapy. Therapy has better and longer lasting effects then medication does. “The World Health Organization (WHO) places depression as the fourth most disabling medical condition worldwide and chances are it will rise to number two by 2020” Dr. Charles L. Raison

lately there has been a large change of events all around the world. It doesn't surprise me that doctors believe there will be more depressed people in the coming years. When I was younger and didn't really know about depression, I used to always tell people I was depressed, when in actuality I was just upset. Depression is a serious illness and effects every part of your mind and body. If someone is depressed I would strongly recommend talking to them or getting help because for some the only way to end depression is to kill yourself and at that point, there is no coming back.

If you're craving something sweet, try eating some pineapple or other natural sweet fruit. It may have started out as a dark feeling but has progressed to an illness that affects every aspect of the person's life.
Show them that you can listen without being judgmental.
