Indonesia Covering Up

The article I just read is about reporters in Indonesia being deported due to efforts to report on the environmental destruction of the land. Indonesia has been in trouble in the environment department for quite some time. Going along with all the other countries that are tearing down forest for land and dumping waste, Indonesia is in a bad position. Just recently though, a few reporters, some form greenpeace, entered the country to do what reporters do best. They were standing on the side of the road one day and were suddenly taken and deported. The government said that the reporters did not have the right papers and had to go. They were considered to be doing illegal activity by photographing parts of Indonesia. The reporters later were checked for papers and had all them.

I think this is a little ridiculous on the part of the Indonesian government. Do they really have to hide environmental destruction form the world. Is a few photos going to do anything for their credit. Will they immediately be invaded over something that is happening everywhere? Will they be fussed at by other countries? Probably not. What they have to hide is happening in much more credible countries all over the world, so I think they really don’t have anything to worry about. In deporting visitors for photographing their land reminds me of something that would happen in North Korea. They either need to chill or start to clean up because the rest of the world is.
